- Bring red wine to a boil and put in all spices (vanilla, cinnamon, orange zests, star anise, cloves, cardamom) and let simmer for 10 min so the alcohol evaporates. (You can prepare this step in advance.) Strain the Glühwein and remove spices.
- Then add canning sugar, bring to a boil again and cook for 4 min.
- Fill the jars with the hot jelly, secure, and turn upside down. Let stand on the lid for 10 - 15 min. Then turn again to create a vacuum in the jar. With a bow it becomes a nice little present.
- Enjoy as spread, with pancakes or with meat.
